4.1.26. Instructions on replacement and installation of wheels

The size of on a turn-key basis applied adapter for wheel bolts can differ from the size of a key in a set of adapters.

For ceramic brakes sharp contact of a wheel with a brake disk as it conducts to ineradicable damage of a disk is not supposed. For dismantle / of installation of a wheel twist in apertures for wheel bolts, instead of wheel bolts, a long core in the top position (poses. 12) and, for support, a short core. Then at installation / dismantle the wheel can slide on this directing.

The car lift only with use of the points of fastening intended for it.
Caps of wheel bolts in cars with легкосплавными wheels remove not by means of a screw-driver, and with application of the special tool (a demountable hook in the onboard tool).
To twisting of wheel bolts apply face keys with a correct solution. It is forbidden to use carried face keys.
To removal of wheel bolts-sekretok (locked wheel bolts) do not apply shock винтоверт.
Wheel bolts do not pollute.

Reliability of fastening of wheel bolts and wheels can be guaranteed only at performance of following checks and instructions.

Following actions should be executed at the dismantled wheel (disk).
Check up that on contact surfaces of a brake disk/nave or a brake disk/drum and a wheel (rim) there are no corrosion and pollution traces.
At presence – remove lubricants and corrosion.
Check up that the centering aperture of a wheel (disk) and aligning elements of a nave of a wheel are cleared of corrosion and pollution.
Remove, at presence, oil, a dirt, corrosion and to put a wax spray anticorrosive protection in the field of a centering.

Hit of a wax spray on a detail of brake system is not supposed.

If at dismantle between a brake disk and a wheel nave the rust or a dirt it is necessary for removing compressed air has got.

At works with compressed air put on goggles.

Spherical nests of wheels (disks) and wheel bolts should be cleared of corrosion and pollution.
The polluted spherical nests of wheels (disks) clear not fleecy rag.
Check up cleanliness of wheel bolts and a carving on a wheel nave.
Clean the polluted wheel bolts in the field of a hemisphere and a carving, for example, a brass brush.

Replace strongly корродированные and the damaged wheel bolts.

At a reuse slightly корродированных wheel bolts they are necessary for cleaning in the field of a hemisphere and a carving and to put on surfaces of sliding paste Optimol TA as follows (all cars, except RS 2 and RS 4, type 8D) (fig. 4.31).
A – the Integral wheel bolt. To grease with a thin layer area of a carving 2 and a hemisphere 1.
B – the Wheel bolt demountable. To grease with a thin layer area of a carving 3 and between a surface прилегания heads of a bolt 6 and a ring of a hemisphere 5. прилегания hemispheres 4 to a wheel (disk) it is impossible to grease a surface.

It is authorised to use only paste Optimol TA. Paste hit on a detail of brake system is not supposed.

Wheel replacement (only for RS 2 and RS 4 type 8D)
Slightly корродированные it is not necessary to clean and grease wheel bolts. These wheel bolts are subject to obligatory replacement.
Twist only dry wheel bolts.

Continuation of the description of works for all cars
Check up that wheel bolts are easily wrapped by a hand. At wheel installation wheel bolts should be twisted easily for all length of a carving.
Pay attention on соосность of a nave carving. The contact of a carving of wheel bolts of an aperture of a brake disk is not supposed.
If the carving of a wheel bolt has concerned apertures, it is necessary to turn a brake disk in appropriate way.

Wheel installation
Put on a wheel a nave and to fix by hand two opposite wheel bolts.
Twist by hand other wheel bolts, thus a course of bolts should be free. Pay attention to an exact centering.
Unload a wheel, slightly having raised it, and easily, by hand, tighten two wheel bolts.
In regular intervals twist at installation all wheel bolts.
Tighten wheel bolts, for example, with the help крестовидного a key cross-wise with the moment 50 Нм.
Lower the car and tighten all wheel bolts cross-wise with the ordered moment of an inhaling.

For installation of wheels do not use shock гайковерта.
Lower the car on wheels.
