5.2.7. Removal and installation of the amplifier of a steering (the left wheel)

Disconnect plugs of the accumulator and if necessary remove it.

ATTENTION Translate a steering wheel in average position and during repair do not twist, since thus it is possible to damage spending element of a pillow of safety.

Take the ignition key at average position of a steering wheel.

A little shift a steering wheel for lock lock-out.

Remove a ware compartment from outside the driver.

Loosen the the screw

Take measures against separation of a steering column. Before removal protect a steering column.

THE NOTE In case of damage of a cuff of a forward wall it is necessary to establish the new. Watch correct landing of a cuff of a forward wall.

Clamp submitting and drain hydroline clips for hoses (fig. 5.2).

Turn off forward wheels.

Loosen the screw connection of an amortisation rack / of a bearing support (only on the left side of the car).

Establish an amortisation rack 1 (look in a movement direction) before a bearing support 2 (fig. 4.55).

Loosen the a nut 1, take шестигранный a bolt and extend both levers 2 upwards (only on the left side of the car) (fig. 5.20).

Развальцовка шлицов in the case of the bearing of a nave by means of a chisel, etc. it is not supposed.

Unscrew a bolt 3 and remove screw connection 4.

Pull out / squeeze out steering draught from the pendular lever in a downward direction.

THE NOTE Between the pendular lever of a steering 1 and a sealing washer 2 tips of steering draught are forbidden to insert a chisel or similar tools for expression of steering draught since it can will lead to damage of a sealing washer (fig. 5.21).

To squeeze out / to beat out a wooden or rubber hammer steering draught from the pendular lever it is supposed only through the cylindrical end of a tip of steering draught.

Fix at the left a rotary fist 1 by means of a bandage 2 on an amortisation rack 3 (fig. 5.22).

Turn off a nut.

Wring out a clip.

Disconnect an electric cable (fig. 5.23).

Take a plastic cover.

On cars with 6 and 8-cylinder engines it is necessary to remove the screen from outside the driver.

That it was possible to remove it, it is necessary to dismantle the forward catalyst.

That it was possible to remove the screen from outside the driver on cars with 8-cylinder engines, it is necessary to dismantle a forward pipe of a final collector.

The screw 1 turn off approximately on 1 turn.

Turn away bolts 2 and 3 (fig. 5.24).

Substitute the tank for flowing down hydraulic oil.

Turn off from the steering mechanism a hollow bolt of a drain hose (22 mm) (fig. 5.25).

On cars with certain combinations of the engine and a transmission the hollow screw can be turned off only from outside a wheel niche.

For this purpose use an open insert of a ring key 22 (standard).

Turn off from the steering mechanism a hollow bolt of a pressure head hose (19 mm) (fig. 5.26).

On cars with certain combinations of the engine and a transmission the hollow screw it is possible turn off only from outside a wheel niche.

For this purpose use an open insert of a ring key 19 (standard).

Unscrew a bolt 1 (fig. 5.24).

Take the steering mechanism through an arch of the left wheel (the assistant is required).

THE NOTE Watch, that the gear wheel of the amplifier of a steering has not damaged a cuff of a forward wall.

The removed amplifier of a steering align by means of the screw for steering centering (fig. 5.27).

Turn off the screw with internal шестигранником 1 on the steering mechanism.

Shift gear рейку so that centering on рейке has coincided with a carving aperture 2.

The screw for steering centering strongly twirl.

Around a seat of a cuff of a forward wall смажте the amplifier of a steering greasing G 052 745 A3

Establish the amplifier of a steering at a water taking away box (the Assistant is necessary).

Watch that on a carving and surfaces of contact of bolts there was no oil and greasings.

Establish the screw 1, but do not tighten (fig. 5.24).

Fasten a hose of a return line and tighten the screw 2 (22) (fig. 5.28).

Fasten a pressure head hose and tighten the hollow screw with the return valve 1 (19) (fig. 5.28).

THE NOTE For hollow screws always use new consolidations. Pressure head and return hoses should not concern each other and other elements. On cars with certain combinations of the engine and a transmission hollow screws can be tightened only from outside a wheel niche.

For this purpose use an open insert of a ring key 19 or 22 (standard).

Again establish a cuff of a forward wall, watch its correct position.

The ledge of a cuff of a forward wall should be on one line with a mark in a body.

THE NOTE The damaged cuff of a forward wall replace. Watch correct landing of a cuff of a forward wall.

Establish the screw 2, but do not tighten.

Insert and tighten the screw 3 (fig. 5.24).

After that tighten screws 1 and 2.

Unblock the steering lock.

Steering wheel translate in average position, then establish propeller the hinge with крестовиной on a steering gear wheel.

Tighten the screw.

Remove an assembly clamp from a steering column (fig. 5.15).

Establish a ware compartment from outside the driver.

On cars with 6-cylinder engines establish the screen from outside the driver.

Establish a plastic cover in a wheel arch.

Fix an electric cable.

Both fingers of the hinge of the top levers establish in a rotary fist and by means of the special tool draw as much as possible downwards (fig. 4.56).

Establish the new screw 2 and a self-stopped nut and tighten.

Establish a head of a plug of an amortisation rack and strong tighten screw connection 1 (fig. 4.57).

Rezinometallichesky hinges (sajlent-blocks) have the limited working range of twisting. Therefore carving connections of levers tighten only on the empty car.

Establish steering draught in the pendular lever against the stop (fig. 5.20).

THE NOTE Steering draught establish in the pendular lever 1 only by hand not to load a sealing washer 2 tips of steering draught (fig. 5.21).

Establish screw connection 4 and tighten a nut (fig. 5.20).

Insert and tighten the screw 3.

After that unscrew a bolt for centering of a steering from the steering mechanism (fig. 5.27).

Block the steering mechanism the screw with internal шестигранником 1.

After end of installation of the steering mechanism remove clips for hoses.

Attach / establish the accumulator and put a cover of a water taking away box.

Establish and tighten wheels.

Tighten screw connection of an amortisation rack / of a bearing support with the specified moment.

Check up level of a working liquid in hydraulic system.

Adjust corners of installation of wheels.

Check and running gear adjustment are spent at the stand for РУУК, recommended VW/Audi.
